How to streamline your Christmas shopping

As the mornings get colder and the evenings get shorter, thoughts of Christmas shopping start to creep into our minds.

We have sleepless nights pondering gifts for different people and preparing for the battle that is late night shopping. So to help you out, we have put together some top tips to help you streamline your Christmas shopping.

Everything should be on a list

If it isn’t written on a list, it doesn’t exist. We write shopping lists when we go food shopping, so why don’t we write lists when it comes to Christmas shopping?

The list doesn’t have to be written on paper, you could make use of your trusty notes App on your phone. We should never miss out on an opportunity to strike a present from the list just because you weren’t sure if you had bought it already.

Writing a list will also help you make sure that you have a present for everyone you need. No more panic buying for that Aunt you haven’t seen since last Christmas (or the Christmas before thanks to COVID!).

Pro tip: for list enthusiasts, you could create a list with several columns covering who to buy for, the present idea, how much to spend and if it has been bought and wrapped.

Set a Budget

There is a lot to buy in the lead up to Christmas, and it can get very expensive.

So set a budget. Prioritise who you must buy for and who would be nice to buy for, Decide how much you want to spend on each person and write it down. If it looks like you will go over your budget, try and find ways to reduce your spending. Are there other gift ideas that are more budget friendly? Could you spend a little less on someone?

Pro tip: Get creative with ways to stick to your budget. Could you use a particular skill of yours to create a present on a low budget, or even better no budget at all?

Make the most of Instagram

Instagram is a great place to find products and read reviews, celebrity endorsements and real life videos of the product being used. You can gain a true feeling for the product that you are looking at – no more wasting money on something that isn’t really that good.

Once you are satisfied that a product is going to be the perfect gift, thanks to Instagram shopping, you can go on and purchase it straight from the platform. There is no more hassle to find the exact product you were looking at on their website.

Most businesses are likely to advertise any discounts and deals that they are running before Christmas on their social media platforms. So, if there are any brands that you particularly like to buy from, it is always a good idea to follow them on social media and keep an eye out for any potential bargains.

You can also save any gift ideas that you see on Instagram so that you don’t have to worry about losing the screenshot on your phone, or the scrap of paper that you scribbled the note on.

If a product has been tagged in a post, you can click the tag and go directly to the product which can also be saved, helping you create a little wishlist within Instagram. This means that when you are ready, you can go to your saved products and start shopping.

Use the influencers you follow

Another great way to save a little bit of money is through using influencer discount codes. Brands will often give a special discount code to an influencer that has a following that matches their target audience.

These often range from small offers to great savings, so it is always worth keeping an eye out on any influencers you follow.

If you are a business and are interested in using social media to promote your products or services over Christmas don’t hesitate to contact us.

Don’t be afraid to search for discounts

Test out any plugins such as ‘Honey’ to get the best discounts. If you add ‘Honey’ to your browser, it will search through the website you visit to find any voucher codes. Then with a simple click, discounts will be applied and money will be saved.

It is never worth impulse buying. Do some research around the present ideas you have. Find out who sells the products you are looking for and how much they are selling them for. Make comparisons and go with the best buy.

It might take a little more time than buying the first one you see, but it would be worth it if it means you stay on budget.
