Video is the new must have for your business

Video marketing is the new must have for your business

You’ve probably heard it over and over again, but it’s true, video marketing is the way forward and in our opinion is a key element that you should consider when thinking about your 2018 marketing strategy.

With 55% of people watching videos online every day, engagement rates for video content are much higher than static content.

Why is video so important?

Think about what you stop to look at when scrolling through your Facebook feed; it’s most likely going to be video content! However with the endless amounts of visual content now filling up our screens, you need to quickly show viewers something that is relevant, a bit different and worthy of their time.

Video also performs well because it allows a business to explain a topic to its customers in a quick and concise manner, which more often than not is easier for the viewer to understand when compared to reading an indepth article

What kind of videos would you recommend?

There are so many ways you could start to implement video content across your various online marketing platforms. Common examples include; animated Gifs, infographics, short social media snippet videos and website promo videos.

Always consider your audience, the intended outlet and main purpose of the activity before choosing your video type(s).

Take one of our clients for example, a Dorset law firm, a general promo video may not be the correct piece of marketing for them because people generally know what they do. However, an animated ‘How to’ infographic or snippet video on social media will inform and advise potential clients whilst also demonstrating their expertise and professionalism.

How long should my videos be?

At the end of the day, your video should reflect the information you’re trying to get across. So there is no point in creating something just for the sake of it, because you recognise video marketing is important.

Therefore if you need to do a ‘How to’ video showing off your products, keep it concise and to the point. Up to 30 seconds is good for social media but with web videos you can get away with much more, in fact, nearly two-thirds of consumers prefer video under 60 seconds!*

Not convinced? Here are some stats!*

  • By 2019, video traffic will account for 80% of all consumer Internet traffic
  • 55% of people watch videos online every day
  • 90% of people say that product videos are helpful in the decision process when purchasing
  • 80% of users recall a video ad they viewed in the past 30 days

Should I stop writing blogs then?

No, it’s important to cover all basis and the specific needs of all your customer types! A video is a great way to quickly  improve brand awareness, but once you’ve got them interested that’s when your articles and website content will help to cement a decision.

Video is effective in helping you rank well on search engines, but content is key to keeping your site high on Google.

Top tip – keep your content interesting and valuable!
