Working with CW

Sales Manager of Commercial Recycling (sister company of Avon Material Supplies), Stuart Mariner and his team have been working with CW Marketing for many years. CW created the original Avon Material Supplies (AMS) website, as well as Commerical Recycling and Easy Bags current sites. However, as the business is constantly growing and demand increases, the AMS team decided they needed a new website that would be;

Why did Avon Material Supplies require a new website?

Following the successful launches of their skip hire, grab lorry and concrete services, they have been able to further infiltrate local contractor and DIY markets which lead to noticeable increases in traffic to their website. More and more people were enquiring about their services online, and so they required a new website that could meet this demand.

Following a review of the website that previously existed, we felt their customers would benefit from a more streamlined website, allowing better navigation, clearer information and easier quote requests for all of their services.

The design

When reworking the design, we had to be very aware of the target audience and who would be visiting the website most. In this case, it’s likely to the general public looking for services such as skip hire, or tradesman and construction sites looking a regular hire service.

With this in mind, we needed a clean, easy to navigate design that allowed people to find the pages they needed quickly, with little distractions but plenty of calls to action. At the end of the day, the goal is to get as many leads generated as possible through phone calls and/or contact form completions.

We also incorporated lots of imagery, especially in the main navigation bar, to further increase the simplicity of the site, as well as making it visually appealing.

We also organised a photoshoot with Jack Aldridge Photography, as we felt the site could benefit from new professional imagery to showcase their services. A promotional video is also currently in development.

The development

Once the design was nailed, it was on to the website. The site was created using WordPress, and was specifically constructed using the new editor, Gutenberg. This editor creates webpages by using a series of customisable blocks. This allows users the flexibility to control the way their content appears on the page and create an easier building experience for anyone adding additional content to the site.

Their old menu bar was busy and confusing so we stripped it back and split it into a simple navigation banner which clearly illustrates our services on every page. The images match the services to help you see what you’re looking for straight away. We’ve also added a search bar that you can type your desired service directly into.

We added user-friendly contact forms on each service page to allow customers to easily book a service, or find out more. In addition to this, we also created a live chat tool and made all phone numbers clickable to help their customers get answers quickly.

The content was pre-existing as this was already search-engine optimised, and had excellent rankings for their main keywords. However, we used the same format for each webpage, and the page structures were split into easy to read sections, offering the reader everything that they need to know.

The result

The Avon Material Supplies’ new website is far from where it was before! Their new website design and layout defines an easier customer journey and gives customers more opportunities to interact with the site.

As part of their retained marketing package, the CW Marketing team will continue to help Avon Material Supplies generate new business leads by increasing the on-site SEO, PPC campaigns and social media coverage.
